May be a dumb question, but as we inch closer to the ADS-B mandate and more systems become available, I've got my eye on units which have both out/in, come with their own TSO'd GPS antenna (WAAS), and are wifi-capable which will link to an IPAD.

As my plane only has rudimentary IFR equipment (no DME), and not wanting to spend a bundle on avionics upgrades- I was thinking that these new ADS-B units would do the trick. After all, they're WAAS capable, come with their own antenna and the only thing lacking is a display unit.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery?
