Since I'm new on this forum I don't know if this has been covered before, but I'm posting in case the info might be useful to anyone.

After getting our ADS-B Out upgrade a few weeks ago we naturally wanted to verify that it was working properly -- that is, our transmitted ADS-B Out signals were being received and properly processed by the NEXTGEN ATC system. I had assumed that this would be a simple matter of contacting the local approach control while in their airspace and asking if they "saw us" through ADS-B as well as on radar. Turns out the controllers don't have this capability, at least not yet.

However, it appears that the FAA anticipated just this need for operational verification, and has a Web page through which you can request (via email) a report on your ADS-B Out performance and operation. Here's the link:

http://www.faa.gov/nextgen/programs/adsb/

After sending the request (with the required info) I received, a couple of days later, a very detailed report on the operation of our ADS-B Out system. This report was extremely useful in identifying an error in one of the parameter settings on our new KT74 transponder.

Note that (as you might expect) in order for this reporting system to work you have to have flown recently within the coverage of an ABS-B ground station.
