Two questions:

I have a working KR-87 ADF in my Cherokee 180E. The KI-227 indicator is located on the far left of the panel, just below the clock. I'm getting ready to install an Insight G4 engine monitor. I have two viable options for placing the G4:

Option 1. Down low, next to the tach.
Pros: I keep the ADF.
Cons: The G4 may be a little harder to see.

Option 2. Pull the ADF, and mount the G4 up closer to eye level.
Pros: Great location for an engine monitor.
Less weight.
Cons: No more ADF.

What are your thoughts on this?

My next question is about legality. The aircraft was originally equipped with an ADF, from the factory; a Narco ADF-31A.

Are there any rules or regulations preventing me from removing the ADF removed, because of this?
