We did a PNP flight today to Knoxville Downtown and while on final to 26 we noticed what appeared to be a V tail Bonanza in a field a few hundred yard off the end of the runway. Turns out the pilot departed the airport prior to 6AM, because that's when the FBO opens and he left before then. Visibility was zero due to dense fog. They think he lost the engine just after takeoff. He also had just had engine work done. He was based at the airport. 2 were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The NTSB was there at about noon collecting info.
