No, a movie set! It came up almost overnight.

HBO is filming a new mini-series partly on the airport grounds, and needed an auto gas station set, so they built one. Series is called Station 11, and expected to release this Fall. A post-apocalyptic story set twenty years after most of the world's population was wiped out. They needed a set that looked like an airport that hadn't been used for twenty years!

OK, not as bad as you might think. We have three parallelled runways, one of each pair has not been used in decades, they were for a time tasked as taxiways but are now entirely closed, somewhat broken up and overgrown. So, perfect for their needs.

Kind of cool. We actually get a lot of film crews through the airport. The inside of my mechanic's maintenance hangar is often featured as a set. He gets to keep many of the props and odd signage they put up. Also gets a free paint job on his office walls, from time to time.
