Flying later today and thinking about things. For one, why is carb heat 'As Required' for approach and landing? The CFI who checked me out recommended not using it, and the Archer checklist, states as required. I was taught to always use carb heat in Cessna's, Mooney, and Citabria but what makes the Piper less prone to carb ice? I elect to use it in the Archer out of habit as you know what they say about an ounce of prevention

Thanks
