Sheltair Aviation has decided to extort their captive tenants in South Florida. For years, they would raise rates at 3 percent or so per year.
This year, they're going for 30 to 50 percent, or more. For rusty, 50 year old buildings with zero preventative maintenance. A tee hangar is now $1350 to $2000. There is no competition either, which means pay up or get out. And $250 or more for a tie down spot.
They lease the property from the city at 18 cents per square foot, and charge tenants up to $1.50 a square foot.
