Would it be a bad idea to install a gps only navigator?

Our panel is pretty much all original. Dual kx155, one glideslope, an old adf, dme, and a century 21 autopilot.

Looking at my options, a used 430w is about 6k, a used gtn650 about 8, an ifd440 over 10k, and a new grn650 about that.

Me being cheap, that makes the gps175 pretty attractive in the mid 4k range, and we already have a Garmin gdl for adsb out and maybe we can share the antenna with the navigator.

I'm thinking keep both kx155, ditch the adf, put the gps where that was, and see if we can get gpss working with the c21 autopilot and maybe a toggle switch for cdi #1 between nav 1 and the gps

Is it a bad idea to be cheap here? Besides the auto tuning nav for approaches is there another reason I should go with a gps/nav/comm?
