I started doing oil analysis on my recently acquired plane and discovered that the prior owner had done at least one 2 years before my purchase. See attached report.

I do my own oil changes and some other light maintenance under supervision of my mechanic. The most recent oil analysis and oil change revealed some issues that have me concerned. Aluminum, iron, and nickel have spiked. I found some carbon crud build up and metal flake in the oil screen at last oil change. I think the crud was build up within the motor from the prior owner not leaning on taxi and ground operations. The plugs at prebuy/annual (combined) were in pretty bad shape. The metal flakes in the picture are not magnetic. Oil filter has minor glitter, nothing major.

Engine was "0SMOH" by Southern Airmotive, Inc. in Fredricksburg, Texas in 1991. So, it's got nearly 1600 hours in 28 years. I realize I'm operating on borrowed time on the motor overhaul.

Engine is using about 1 qt every 10hrs or so. I do seem to be having some oil blowout the breather tube.

Annual is next month and I'm thinking a full borescope of each cylinder and maybe pulling a jug to get a look at the cam/lifters to see if I have the dreaded spalling starting to occur?

Maybe I've got a busted piston ring which theoretically will be discovered with a compression check or borescope, right? Thoughts?
