With all the talk about wing spar problems on the Cherokee lineup, I've been paying closer attention to the wing roots lately. In doing so, I've found that one wing root has a significantly larger gap (1/4") between it and the fuselage at the leading edge of the wing as compared to the other wing (1/8"). The side with the wide gap has caused the rubber seal to fall into the gap leaving an entry point for moisture into the wing (see picture) . I plan to replace the seals and am hoping they just shrank with age. However, I'd like to know what everyone else thinks an acceptable amount of gap would be. Should I be concerned about the larger gap on one side, or is that common?
