I’m purchasing a winch, to bolt to the floor of my hangar so I can push my Cherokee 140 up a slight grade this winter when it’s icy or snow covered. My first thought is to pull the plane in, using the tail tie down loop. I’ve heard differing opinions as to weather or not this could damage the structure of the aircraft. My second thought is to make a harness that clips into the wing tie downs on either side of the fuselage & run the two tie downs to a center point under the tail, clip that together & pull from there. This is something I’ll probably only do about a dozen times a year. The rest of the time, as long as I have dry pavement I can push it in with no assistance.
