Interesting and exciting times we are experiencing technologically with GA certified avionics. First with the Aspen, then Garmin and Dynon. How many of you guys are like me and sitting on the sidelines, waiting to see how competition will drive the aftermarket avionics market to capable and affordable retrofits? How do you think this will affect new aircraft sales?
I love the direction this is going, and can't wait to see what the next 5 years will bring in terms of innovation.
Manufacturers of new aircraft have predominantly sold new airplanes based on the capability of the avionics suites, while keeping the airframes and engine components, for the most part, the same. i think by making avionics retrofits affordable, manufacturers will be forced to now (finally)innovate in forms of payload, reliability, and speed.
I'm excited. Anyone else?
