Had the start of what was to be the first decent cross country yesterday in the PA32-260 but ended up scrubbing the trip..

Ground operations, run-up, and climb out were all fine..

Engine Monitor is an EI MVP-50p.

Climbed out to 7500, leveled off, built airspeed, and began the process of leaning for cruise.. Couldn't get fuel flows to settle down where they have typically been.. Seems like there is a "dead spot" in the Mixture control, then a big jump.. pulling back from around 16gph, the vernier Mixture control felt fine and linear, but no impact to fuel flows or EGT for about a half to 3/4" of travel, then a sudden drop down to 13.5gph..

Tried linear and rotary control in both directions and the same dead spot exists.. Additionally, fuel flows were swinging up and down nearly 1gph around that 16gph mark erratically with no Mixture control input.. Stable around the 13.5gph range, but near peak EGT..

This is a recent install of a new Carb.. Any thoughts on the potential issue?

Descent and landing were uneventful by the way.. Just frustrated at having to call the trip.. Flown locally 10-12hrs on the new carb with typical "pull it back to around 16gph" leaning.. This is the first time I've attempted to come on down with it for a trip since the new carb, and was looking forward to seeing if I could get in the LOP range..
