Hi people,

last inspection we noticed a small crack on the "U" bracket of the shimmy dampener. It is actually cracked 3/4 of the way of the first side of the "U", therefore there is still the L, remaining of some sort.

Since this bracket is part of the engine mount structure, it seems like a big deal. But looking at things the crack look like is couple of years old.

My mech said these tend to crack when they tow the plane with an hydraulic or electric buggy and if they turn it too abruptly.

Anyone here ever experience this problem? My local shop doesn't have any contact other than Acorn. I don't feel like removing the engine, my guess is that a certified welder could handle that job easily.

Thanks!
