I’m planning to fly up to Baltimore next weekend from SC for the night.
Would like to get some advice about flying into BWI generally (e.g. how complex it is or is not for a VFR pilot) and some input on what to expect on routing once I get close and on the ground. I’m flying a Cherokee Six.
I’ll be arriving from the southeast (probably via the COLIN intersection / WHINO gate) but am not planning to fly thru the SFRA unless that’s how atc wants me to go.
I used to be based out of College Park so I know the SFRA/FRZ drill but never flew into BWI and just don’t know what to expect.
Martin State is my plan B, but I hear it’s pretty run down and not generally very friendly to single pistons or offering many of the usual FBO services (like rental cars or plugging in an engine heater overnight). Could be wrong though.
