Hello,
I'm an IT project manager (former network engineering and development manager). I recently purchased a Garmin 430w for my pa-28-140 to overhaul the panel for IFR. Being an IT guy I'm flabbergasted at how many wires it takes to hook the thing up. Why on earth isn't there a common data-bus like Ethernet for avionics? It seems to me there should only be power, radio signal and voice wires on these things? It's really just blowing me away at how needlessly complex and hard to troubleshoot this stuff is.

Am I the only one?

Thanks,

Mike
