After getting the SkyBeacon installed in my Cherokee, I’m tired of my stratus box suction cup falling off the window after getting to altitude. Seeing how much it will cost to permanently mount the stratus I was looking at the SkySensor however the company will not get it certified because there is not enough interest. Here is the message that was received from uAvionix support:

Thank you for the interest in our products.
With certification costs up to or exceeding a million dollars there is not enough interest in the skySensor to justify that expense.
You can do a field approval of the unit.

thanks,

So, now I am considering getting field approval of a SkySensor. Has any one else ever got field approval for anything like this? I’m asking because I have no experience with this stuff.
