I have recently completed the installation of a TT/BK Aerocruz 100 in my '73 Challenger. After resolving problems with it not tracking (main board had to be replaced) it is performing pretty well, tracks great, excellent GPSS mode and does excellent with altitude hold. However; when I pre-select an altitude or want to make a change in altitude during cruise, either descending or climbing it doesn't do so great. Yesterday for example, I preselected an altitude of 2400' to keep me under the class C airspace that my home airport lies under. It showed no indication that it was going to level off even after reaching 2500' at which point I had to intervene to keep from busting the class C airspace. Once at cruise altitude I attempted to change altitude several times by selecting a different altitude of several 100' both higher and lower with an SVS of 600-700' per minute. The performance was very sluggish and in the case of going lower almost not responsive at all. I have the VERT ACTIVITY set at 16 and the MICROACITIVTY set at 6 per the installation instructions.
Aircraft was loaded to approximately 1,972 lbs, clear skies, 1900' density altitude, light thermal activity.
I am open to all suggestions and comments. It is certainly possible that pilot error is a factor.
Thanks,
Mike
