I have an Arrow with a TruTrak and Aspen E5 installed. I’m trying to come up with a procedure for coupled instrument approaches using GPSS from my GTN650 and vectors to final. I’m thinking it might be best to leave the Aspen out of the equation by leaving the source selection switch in the Garmin position. Here are my thoughts but am interested in others input.
Load the full approach but don’t activate
Let the TT navigate using GPSS (headed towards the IAF) until ATC starts vectoring me to a point between the IAF and FAF.
At that point switch the TT to heading mode and follow assigned vectors.
At the point where I’m close to intercepting the approach path I would go to the Garmin flight plan and activate the IAF to FAF leg, or go DIRECT TO the FAF
Then put the TT back in GPSS mode And let it follow the approach path and intercept the GS
Thanks in advance for your input
