Leaving out of there this afternoon and pressed for time due to unfavorable winds (42 kt direct headwind to DFW and only got worse the higher you planned for), trying to get to KTKI in Dallas at a reasonable hour.

So I got taxi clearance and headed down to the active runway, the one controller working has NOLA approach dragging their feet giving him a clearance for a twin commander in front of me, two oilfield helos asking for crosswind landings, and a Baron cleared to land with a twin Merlin coming in cleared to land behind him.

While juggling the rest of us the controller caught the Merlin on the binoculars and tells him he forgot his gear about 50 feet from the ground....
