So, I am still putting in break-in time on my new cylinders, and there really isn't anywhere to go anyway destination-wise, so spent another day up there yesterday churning up the sky. Not complaining!

To make it more interesting, rather than just punching in a lot of waypoints, I flew entirely using various VOR radials and headings to intercept. It was a lot of fun, also got to renew my dislike of scalloping. ;)

We have lost a lot of the VORs in Southern Ontario, as NavCanada moves to eliminate virtually all of them in Canada. But there are still enough to make the exercise worthwhile. I added the VORs to the flightplan, which loads them into the radio on the IFD. Then I would use the OBS/GPS mode and flick to the equivalent VLOC + CRS mode, changing the course around to exercise it. Set up outbound radials on VOR2, and swapped as I passed. All the usual stuff. Lovely to see the ASPEN flick modes back and forth in sync, and actually used the bearing pointers, it all works. it also served to rewaken some of that buttonology, it doesn't get much of a work out these days, it being all pretty much RNav other than ILS approaches.

Good time.
