As a new owner, I'm still learning the quirks of my Cherokee 140. Last Thursday I went out to fly, and had a heck of a time getting her started. Ever since I bought her (in April), she's fired up right away, first or second crank every time. This time, it took me about 8 tries to get her going. Everything else was the same as it's always been, except the ambient temp was about 45 F and the overnight low had been around 40 F, much cooler than any other time I've cranked her up. After getting her started, everything else was completely normal.... run up, oil temp and pressure, power. Does ambient temp have that large an effect on starting, or should I be looking elsewhere? I'm going out again tomorrow and expect similar temps, so will report back with the results.
