So I understand that you can swap the units and be ADS-B compliant. Just not sure if that's all there is to it. Does the KT74 have a WAAS GPS built in or does it need input from a GNS or GTN? I think I know the answer. Also cant figure you if they both use the same antenna.

I'm looking at pressurized airplanes and punching holes in the pressure bulkheads requires a DER ($1000). Wondering if a plane with a GTN650 and a KT76a could swap in the KT74 and call it good. I'm guessing there would be some wiring from the GTN to the KT74 required.

If the antenna cable has to be changed and can't utilize the same holes, we would have to hire a DER. Also if the antenna penetrated the pressure vessel and did not utilize the same hole pattern, it would require a DER.
