So departed home field yesterday on a fuel run with my youngest daughter. Apparently after announcing our departure, the mic stuck and the rest of the field and traffic got to hear our conversations about the new garmin gps, its functionality, IFR benefits, etc...for about 10 minutes, which is when I switched to our destinations freq. And the 3 guys in the pattern at our destination got to hear 10 minutes of me talking my daughter through maintaining level flight and heading. I was announcing position, but wasnt hearing anyone else on freq. Its a little more rural airport, so I didnt think it was that strange, although I did see 3 planes in the pattern. About 5 minutes out, I noticed some "noise" in the headset and thought it was just background noise, even adjusted the squelch a bit. Entered the pattern with the other aircraft and finally asked if anyone could hear me...which they all could, but no one could broadcast cause of the stuck mic. uneventful landing and pulled up to the fuel pumps where the FBO manager met me to let me know. Turns out the old handheld "CB" mic must have shorted, once I unplugged it, we were back in business. Called up on UNICOM and apologized to those in the pattern for their patience. On way home, checked my phone and my home airport maintenance manager had text and called me to let me know how informative our gps conversation was...LOL. Anyway, lesson learned...if your not hearing anyone else, maybe check that your not blocking the freq, and keep your cockpit conversations clean...you never know if the whole world is listening.

Added a couple "HOT MIC" labels to the panel just to remind me to look for the transmit signal on my radios.
