I read in the Cherokee Tips Book that I got from this website about a split master switch so that when you start the plane the alternator is not not engaged until you turn the switch on. It was supposedly put on newer model planes, mine is a 1968 cherokee 140 and does not have this. I also do not have a radio master switch. Has anyone heard of this or have one? I would consider installing one if it is needed. Is there a switch on the newer models that lets you start the engine without engaging the alternator? Also, my plane does not have an alternate static source, would this be hard to install?
