I am struggling to communicate effectively about this stuff.
So on a fixed gear cherokee, there is a sheet metal fairing that wraps around the main gear struts. That fairing, when installed, butts right up against the bottom of the wing. There is some goop, some sort of rubber stuff typically smashed in there to protect where the two pieces of metal would come together.
I bought some rubber channel to use for that. I think it'll work fine. But, on the other cherokees I've looked at, it almost looks like a very dense caulking.
I had my local shop, a couple months ago, install my fairings and they did it with no rubber at all. I didn't think it was right. The shop where my plane is as now doesn't want to put the wheel pants back on for me for some reason. I think they've overrun on hours compared to the quoted price for all the work and I brought them the plane without pants. So, I am not going to push it. I'll put them back on myself when I get it home. But, I need to know what to get to put on the top of those fairings.
