Question for the hive...
Yesterday I went snd looked at a 78 T-Tail Lance, the engine was at TBO and they Avionics need a complete upgrade, but the plane was priced accordingly. Paint was a good 8/10 and the interior was a 7/10. While looking it over, I noticed some fiberglass damage around the rear tiedown eyelet. When I asked, the seller told me that the eyelet was pulled out when they connected it to a wench and used it to pull the plane backwards into the hanger. My problem is, upon inspection of the logs, I can find no reference to the repair, and 2nd, the fiberglass was not repaired, at least not properly. It appears as though someone ran three screws into it and connected it back to the airframe in a slightly different location as it was obviously not lined up properly. There was also several cracks that had not been fixed. The owner said it just needed a few hundred dollars worth of fiberglass work. I dont really buy that. So, anyone use the rear anchor point to pull an aircraft around? And should would be the consequences of a rear tie anchor being pulled out exactly? Made me nervous enough that Im 90% sure Im out. But Id like to hear some opinions on the matter.
Thanks,
