My 140 came with the rear jacks mounted on the side panels.  Yeah, the panels do seem flimsy, but my biggest issue with them there is when I lift up the rear seats to access the battery area under them, the jacks hit the seat base.  I have to push in on the jacks/panel to get the seat panel to lift up all the way.  So it looks like I'm in the same boat as you - would like to find a different location.  The area that PropFan used looks promising.
