Good Morning -

More out of curiosity than anything else. I know that owners of G1000 equipped aircraft from multiple brands have expressed frustration about being unable to update their systems or add things such as ADS-B because the factory has to approve all software and equipment upgrades. This is because the G1000 is part of the type certificate of the aircraft. I was wondering if the same applied to those aircraft that were delivered with G500 or G600 systems or were they installed at the factory under an STC? I think if the latter is the case, wouldn't owners be able to upgrade software versions more easily or even upgrade the entire system to a TXi? Again, just "thinking out loud" more than anything.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Healthy & Prosperous New Year to all!
