I'm looking at an Aftermarket Engine Price List effective July 5, 2011 from Lycoming and it shows a core value of $13,600 for an O-320-E2A.

Vref on AOPA's website shows a '69 PA-28 with a $20,900 base value assuming:TTAF 5590hrs, SMOH 1000hrs, Paint & Interior 7 of 10, Single Nav/Com, complete logs, no damage, and all inspections complied.

If the engine has 2000 or more hours SMOH; then $11/hr times 1000 hours or $11,000 is deducted giving a base retail value of $9,900.

So I'm confused and I don't think I have the correct understanding of what the engine core value is worth.

Any light shed on the subject would be appreciated...thanks.
