My PA32-300 has a detent on the mixture level that must be pushed in to lean out the mixture. I assume this is to prevent accidentally pulling mixture off. However I have to push it in past the detent for normal leaning during flight so I'm already beyond this for all flying situations other than takeoff. Anyone know why this is set that way? Is it supposed to be to lean to normal cruise and mine is set incorrect?
