I am planning on upgrading my Cherokee 180 with modern avionics so my son can train on the new modern approaches and we can have some backup in the event of a vacuum system failure or complete electrical failure in IFR conditions.
Ultimately, I plan to install a GTX345, GTN650, GNC255A, 2xG5's, GMA345, eventually the GFC500 or possibly the Trio AP, and remove the vacuum system. I currently have older 80's vintage dual navcomm DME King gear.
I want to do this in steps and minimize buying gear and then removing it. For example, adding a GI106B for the GTN650 and then removing it when I get the dual G5's, wasteful.
Item number one is a GTX345.
Question is, if I install the GTX345 with WAAS, will I be able to add the GTN650 later and use the same WAAS antenna? I don't want to have a bunch of GPS antennas on the roof from Garmin and King. I'm hoping the installer can use the GPS antenna hole from the King KLX135A GPS I am removing and then that GPS antenna will work for both the GTX and GTN.
Any recommendations on order of installation or things I overlooked?
Thanks
