It seems I am not able to always use the PEP receptacle to jump my airplane. I have rare occasion to use it but when I have in the past it doesn't always work.

When an FBO jumped the plane using their driveable power cart it worked. However, when I tried to jump with my friends truck it wouldn't.

I know there is a solenoid in there but I've read that the problem is more likely some transistor. An avionics tech I know removed the transistor in his plane.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I know you can just bypass the plug and jump the battery but I'd like to have this receptacle working nonetheless.
