Does anyone know if there is a specific FAR that instructs the PIC to be in the left seat of the Cherokee 180?? I have an ATP and my son is a student pilot training for his Private.

What I was told is that unless the owners handbook specifically directs that the PIC be in the left seat then they can be in either seat.

I would like to let my son fly from the left seat in the Cherokee 180 and I sit in the right seat since that is where he usually sits with his CFI.

Any opinions?

thx
