Whew! That was brutal! Now the fun can really begin with that pressure off.

I just thought I'd mention to those that are preparing for the IFR written, that it has changed A LOT. I knew as of June 15, 2016 there were changes to the PTS and had heard the test had been "updated" as well.

Let me tell ya, it had been changed! I studied pretty well and felt really good going in. I went to the IFR ground school this past weekend, where a lot of memorization was pushed. I paid for and downloaded the shepherd air app which was very helpful as well.

By Monday evening/night I had taken my 5th overall practice test (between long study sessions) and was consistently scoring upper 80's. After my 5th practice test I really studied hard for my weaknesses and went into the test without any reservation of doing poorly. I was spending about 60-75 minutes on each practice test.

Yesterday am I spent 2 hours and 20 minutes fighting my way through a ton of unfamiliar questions, many of which had parts that were really more PPL and not even part of the IFR study stuff. Thank goodness I still had a decent working knowledge of the E6B.

I consider myself a VERY good test taker. Running that marathon called vet school made it essential for survival.

Anyway, I made a 78 and my brief review of the questions I missed suggested to me that I had made very few if any "careless" mistakes to contribute to the score. There were 4-5 questions that I swear had more than one correct answer OR did not have a correct answer listed.

So... for those preparing for the IFR written... Prepare well!!! Understand the information and don't rely simply on memorization!
