Thinking of a discussion I had with @sbartels in Reading at the East Coast fly in:

The Tuesday after Reading I flew up to Toronto for business, and it was a great example of 90% of what I find my IFR rating useful for:
- Broken 1,100 (solid layer) over Ithaca
- Punched through, was in the clouds for 90 seconds and then another few minutes later in the flight
- Vast majority of the flight was a beautiful VMC day

I also will fly down to 400 ft ceilings in the rain on rare occasion, which is a different kind of "fun" flight; my point with this post is that if you're thinking about your IFR, DO IT! It will make you a better pilot and reduce the number of times you need to scrub in overall very decent weather.
