I have a 1964 235 and have had a problem with the left strut leaking air. Over a period of three days it goes from 4 1/2 inch extension to 1 inch. There is no hydraulic fluid leakage and the struts themselves are clean and shiny. I changed the fluid in both struts in July when the leak started, the fluid was old and dirty. The right strut is fine, holds 4-4 1/2 inch extension, but the left continues to leak slowly.
When I changed fluid, they both had rubber O rings instead of aluminum crush washers on for the valve stems. I changed them to the correct aluminum washer (according to the parts manual).
Oh, I also changed both valve cores, I got them from Spruce. And I got new yellow valve caps.
What troubleshooting can I do? I hope not to have to remove the struts, since there is no hydraulic fluid leaking. Thanks.
