Hi all. I have an old original 1974 attitude indicator in my Arrow 2. It’s hooked up to the Piper Autocontrol 3. Autopilot works fine. Attitude indicator is starting to do the washing machine motion between the face plates. Still holds horizon and bank steady, but the center of the instrument is doing a slow hula dance

Is it possible to replace the original A/I that is linked to the autopilot with a better performing new/used A/I. Have any of you guys done this. Was it a financial and literal pain in the butt? I could throw a G5 in there, but I would lose my current working yet somewhat limited autopilot. I actually hand fly most often, but it’s nice to have on many levels

I will probably throw a used ($1000) electric A/I in an open hole as a backup. Just curious about replacing the original A/I tied to the Autocontrol 3

Thanks in advance for your help

Tim
