Had a recent oil change in Archer. A&P reported oil filter inspection normal. However, when we talked on the phone. He told me there was a small amount of aluminum found in filter, but well within Lycoming tolerance. He suggested keeping an eye on things and check again around 25 hours.

The paranoid pilot in me says replace engine tomorrow. Perhaps - an over reaction, but the no pilot wants to hear about any amount of metal in an oil filter. However, the more I read about this issue it appears this is not uncommon for a Lycoming O-360. I have about 950 hours on this engine with airplane flying usually 1-2 times per week on average.

Thoughts, opinion, and advice.
