My shop said that because I am not doing anything to the main horizontal I-beam where the engine gauges and yoke shaft are, that this is a minor alteration and does not need a 337.
"This is a minor alteration. You are not doing anything to the
structure which is the extrusion below all this. You need to think that we
are patching a hole in your existing panel with a new overlay. The new
panel is connected to the existing panel at the perimeter. Because it is
a minor alteration it does not need a 337 nor a review by a DER."
They was an AvWeb article that talked about 337s for this stuff. Has anyone else had to get a 337 form for their metal panel upgrades on a Cherokee, Arrow or Dakota? I want to be sure all the paperwork is in order for future shops or if I sell the airplane someday.
