I've got a 1970 Cherokee 235 with about 750hrs on a great running O-540. Ive owned it for about 10 months and have put about 160hrs on it. Slick mags are original as I can tell from the logs. Ive been told by 2 A&Ps that with Slicks its best to fly them to about 800 hrs and then just replace them. At this point, I'm about to start my IFR training so Im going to go with a new GTN650, a EI CGR-30 package, and a Lynx 9000 upgrade. But I'm trying to decide if I should go with replacing both mags or replacing one and adding an electric ignition system, I'm already getting close to breaking the bank, but she's such a good airplane, she just needs some updating. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?
