jeppesen released yesterday the North American version of their mobile flight deck vfr app for ipad. It's an excellent bargain at $49 per year for the entire lower 48. The app is available for download in the apple app store and on startup will tell you how to get a free 30 trial subscription. Some pluses and minuses.
For those of you familiar with the jeppesen vfr+GPS charts that went away a couple of years ago, this vector drawn app brings back the look and feel of those. Depiction of airspace is sharp and clear with floors and ceilings shown including special use air space. Zooming in on an airport that has a airport diagram brings up the airport layouts and taxiways. You can put your finger on an airport and it will bring up typical af/d data like frequencies and current weather when weather was last updated on wifi or mobile data,. Same info available with airspace.
Setting up a route with favorites is simple and intuitive. Metar data can be displayed as a graphical overlay. Enroute flight log with time enroute and etr eta is part of what it does,
There are some things that are not incorporated. Graphical tfrs are not shown although the text description is available. Winds aloft are not yet incorporated into the navlog for preflight planning.
