Crazy day. Went to simply change a nav light lamp on my PA-28R-180. Should be quick & easy.
When removing the bad bulb, the bulb broke, leaving the base of the bulb inside the fixture. Struggled to remove the remnants of the base of the bulb and finally decided to remove the fixture from the wingtip to work on it. Did that, got the base of the broken bulb removed, all good.
Went to reattach the fixture to the wingtip and the female threads inside the wingtip are gone. Are they some kind of clip? Looks like I must now remove the wingtip to retrieve the nuts. Am I on the right track?
I'm the owner but not an A&P... can the owner remove the wingtip?
