My partner was flying our Arrow this morning. As he started his descent, gear still retracted, he heard a pop then fluttering under his feet. He said he lost Mode C at the same time. When he got on the ground he found that half the nose gear door had departed.

Radar track stops when he was descending at 3.000 feet, 100 MPH.

I'd be interested in your thoughts of what may have happened. Seems unlikely that he could have hit a bird, as the door is behind the prop arc.
