I have a Cherokee 180 O-360 A4A. I just had the mags rebuilt due to age. Before the mags were removed and according to a JPI EDM 830, my takeoff CHT's were always no higher than 360F on takeoff pretty much summer/winter before the mags were removed. Engine ran strong.

After the new mags were installed, the CHT's are reaching 405F on takeoff with the outside air temperature 35F. All CHT's are within 10F of each other and the CHT's come right down to about 360F the rest of the flight. I'm concerned what the temps are going to be this summer. Baffling is good and tight. Timing perhaps?? Just got checked at annual.

Question is, why would the CHT temp change with new mags???

Thx
