So, we have a young guy on our field with a Cherokee. His MAC 1700 took a dump, so I traded him the radio plus a little bit of cash for my spare KX170B. Now I need to figure out how to get this thing fixed. I will likely use it in my RV7 down the road.
The issue: when you turn on the power, it won't make it through the self-test. Various LEDs come on dimly all over the display and it freezes. If you cycle the power it just cycles which segments come on and stay on. No audio that I know of. Thinking perhaps a bad power supply but I don't know for sure.
I would send it to the KX170B guy in CA, but he doesn't publish his email address and I no longer have it. He recommends J/A Air in IL, but I remember I couldn't get anyone there to respond to email or call me back regarding a MAC1700 repair. I sent the KX170B guy the MAC that's in my Cherokee and he fixed it, but I believe I corresponded with him first. Does anyone have his email address, or alternatively, have legit knowledge of a shop that can fix it reasonably?
