I am looking at buying my first airplane. I have been looking at quite a few on the web and flying a couple.
My question - what are the negatives and potential issues of a low time <2000 hours 30+ year old airplane?
I am looking at some with slightly over 1000 hours TT and of course with the original engine still without an OH.
I have inspected log books and most planes like that show at least one period of many years with no flight. I know that long periods of inactivity are not good for most machinery.
The avionics being outdated can be fixed (with money). But the engines - even when passing an annual - kind of concern me.
Any thoughts from more experienced pilots on airplanes like this?
