had rpm and manifold pressure drop associated with a heavy right yawing moment about 1000ft AGL off the field I was climbing out of just a couple hours ago.

left engine got me back to the ground safely although I didn't shut down the right because it was still producing some power.

had a friend bring me home tonight. Tomorrow I go back out to the airport that the plane is stuck at and take my tools. Thankfully I know the mechanic there, and I helped get him home when he was stuck a few hours away on his own engine loss back in April, so hoping for some tit-for-tat.

My guess is the magneto(s) on the right engine, or the harness they're apart of. not quite sure. In the little testing I did on the ground, the right engine would go to 42" MP but it wouldn't develop more than about 2100-2200 rpm, which is about 150-200rpm short. it also wanted to idle around 500rpm, which is lower than I'd like. Also once I shut it down, I couldn't get it to restart. I didn't think to check one mag vs the other during the checking.

Just so odd that it was all the sudden.

takeoff was strong at 38" MP. climbout was 1300ft/min at blue line. runup was normal mag drop and the prop cycle was fine too.

More details after dissection tomorrow.
