Went to get night current again the other evening, only to be met with an inoperative instrument flood light. The overhead red one that shines down on the panel, and comes on with the nav light switch. Luckily I had my headlamp with a red setting, so I was able to complete the mission.

My problem is the parts catalog..... it is not very clear at all, and even if it were better, it looks like the catalog says it must be ordered from Piper..... ummm.... no. Can anyone tell me what the bulb # is, and whether there is an LED replacement? Seems stupid to have it on all the time with the nav lights, thinking about adding a switch.

Lastly, any tips and tricks for accessing the dang thing? I have this feeling that it's a simple-looking job that could rapidly turn into a can of worms.
