Leading Edge Tape for Tailplane Warrior II

Hi Guys,

The leading edge of the tail plane in my Warrior II 1978 had a piece of black table installed, I guess to protect against nicks and stone chips (please see photo attached). As it was falling apart, I peeled it off revealing some minor chips over the years.
I am considering replacing with the correct black tape. Do you know what suitable tape is out there that I can order. if not, what is your opinion on replacing the tape.
